50% Advance payment for self employment Tax due on self employment discontinued

50% Advance payment for self employment Tax due...

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who discontinued his self employment from 31/03/2013 andpresently  he is working as an employee. His current year Tax + NI works up to more than £1000.00 Further HMRC SA return  calculates 50% advance in addition to above due.

How can I stop calculating 50% advance in the HMRC  SA return  and inform HMRC he is no more self employed.

Appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance.

Are you using 3rd party software?

3rd party software would normally allow you to adjust the payment on account.

Otherwise, you will have to submit form SA303, or, if you are the registered agent you can adjust it via online services.

What NI

If he's employed one would expect tax to be correct unless he has some other income but NIC as an employee should be ignored As said do SA 303, reason self employment has ceased.
