A practical solution - notifying HMRC of no PAYE/NIC due

A practical solution - notifying HMRC of no...

Didn't find your answer?

My firm now has quite a few clients who have a payroll but taking low salaries have no PAYE/NIC due - I know its possible to go online and send nil payment notices but when you have 50 odd to do its not really practical - any suggestions on how others manage this.

Annual scheme

Try phoning the tax office and putting them on to annual payment, has worked for me in the past - but not tried it recently.

Notifying HMRC of Annual Scheme

I agree with the poster above. I have done this, but would recommend confirming by letter or recording the phone call as I am sure they will (i) fail to make the necessary records and (ii) deny ever having had the conversation.

Employers Office

The PAYE office to write to is the one where HMRC have centralised all the Employers Sections:

HMRC

Employers Office

Chillingham House

Benton Park View

Newcastle upon Tyne

NE98 1ZZ

Or you can try 'phoning the Employers Helpline on 0845 714 3143.

I assume that you have, at least, only been notifying nil PAYE quarterly, rather than monthly.
