Abbreviated accounts/VT

So I have finalised my abbreviated accounts, ibxrl full accounts and CT600.

I've used BTC and submitted the full accounts and CT600.

Whats the easiest way to submit the abbreviated to Companies House. Is there something within VT that allows me to submit or do I have to download the Companies House template and type?  (PITA as lots of related party and directors loans type disclosure) Or simpler still, can I still print and post?

Am I missing a quick and obvious solution?

From BTC

You can file the abbreviated accounts with Companies House from BTC.

Abbreviated accounts

... should not include related party disclosures.  They are a requirement of the FRSSE, which does not apply to abbreviated accounts.

I am sorry that I cannot help you with VT.  Those of us who have IRIS just press a button to e-file the accounts direct from IRIS.

tax hound...I have BTC CT and SA.  How does that work?

Can i still post them?

Is there an additional charge if I post them?

Yes

No charge for posting them - I do this - it is easier just to bung the signed copy into an envelope, rather than messing about with the Companies House PDF

Yes, me too.  It's easy enough to stick it in an envelope with a standard letter, takes less time that it would to faff around with the PC.

What to do...

In VT generate a iXBRL file for the abbreviated accounts (it's one of the options in the VT iXBRL toolbar).

In BTC Practice Manager, select the company and in Tasks and Reports select the Corporation Tax Return for the year. Under attach accounts you should have the option to attach the abbreviated file.

Then hit submit accounts!

Provided the authentication code is saved in your client details this should then file the accounts for you.

Filing accounts to co house from VT

Funny enough, I asked that question to VT this week.  They will have the facility in the spring

We use the customers auth and dowload the pdf presently.  Its a bit clumsy, but it does the job

CoHo PDF

I really don't see the problem with the CoHo PDF. It takes 2 minutes to do.

We copy and paste the wording needed from the PDF of the accounts from VT.

Minimal work required.

Nice to know VT will have a direct submit in the future though - long overdue, methinks!

The instructions for filling out the template say not to cut and paste which is why I was starting to huff and puff about it.

On the template theres no deferred taxation note under accounting policies. How do I add it, or is there no need?

Many thanks

They do?

I've always cut and paste and never had an issue.

If you need to add a note that is required for ABBRV, then you can use the "add note" option at the bottom of the standard ones.

Thanks (0)

cut and paste it is! Thank you for your help

Thanks (1)

I cant see how to add a paragraph to the accounting policies. Am I being exceptionally dim here?  I can add other notes easily enough.

Thanks (0)

Ah. Not notes

Hi Thomas

Glad to have helped with the cut and paste thing.

Sorry, I missed that you said accounting policy and not note.

Without double checking, I would assume therefore that other accounting policies are not required.

relief

Reading about all this faffing about with the Companies House template makes me realise how lucky I am to be able to software file at the push of a button! Thank you BTC.

Is the Companies House template still woefully out of date (referring to two FRSSEs ago, etc)?

Companies House template

Their template is still out of date.

Getting signed accounts is "faffing about" in my book.

I am wanting to use Digita Company Secretarial to submit accounts and annual returns but their technical support seems to have been overwhelmed after their release of version 10 and there's nobody available to talk to! I wish software companies would plan for an increase in support when changing software so radically.

Agreed.

Add to this that I had to (try and) submit a set of accounts three times using CH template this week. For some unknown reason it was rejected the first two times, spoke to CH - no help.

First I knew of the unsuccessful attempts was an e-mail received from CH the following day. Not much help as I was out of the office for the whole day.

Ok, yes I know you receive acceptance e-mails from CH usually within a couple of hours (or the next day if you file late at night).

Luckily I wasn't up against a deadline so no real issues but another reason to change software now to a product that allows direct filing at the push/click of a button/mouse.

Come on VT!

I've been waiting patiently for this for ages ... how about doing it early and giving us all a Christmas present!? Must admit I'm lazy and just stick the abbreviated accounts in the post; knowing that the one touch solution is coming has not helped my inquisitiveness!

Guarantee companies

It may not affect many accountants, but is everyone aware that you can now file abbreviated accounts for guarantee companies through WebFiling?

IRIS will be introducing the facility to file guarantee companies direct from their software in their next version coming out next week.  VT users who have guarantee companies - such as most residents management companies - might like to check that VT will include guarantee companies when they eventually introduce the direct filing facility.  I am assuming that VT can handle guarantee companies in the first place.

Online Filing with CH Template

It's clumsy but not that bad. I still find it easier than posting them. I would rather have multi-date transaction import to VT than online filing to CH with VT.

Thanks (1)

Another vote here too

Agreed

Another vote for multi-date import for VT

If it was a choice between the two, I'm with you, Chatman!

VT Transaction+ import facility

The new VT Transaction+ import facility has been released and the upgrade is available to download from the website.
