Accounting Treatment of a caravan in a construction site for the builders

Caravan as a shelter

Didn't find your answer?

Hello everyone,

I am an accounts assistant for a construction company and have just bought a caravan for a construction site that is to serve as a shelter for the builders/workers.

The intention is to sell it straight after it is no longer needed for the site. I am thinking that it is a company asset and goes under plant and machinery and that it shouldnt be part of the project's expenses. In the future they might change their mind and keep it for a different project.

Will this qualify for capital allowances and can we claim VAT for it?

Too many questions I know, please forgive my inexperience.
