Anonymous Function and Avatars

Anonymous Function and Avatars

Didn't find your answer?

Is there any plans to remove the anonymous function?

It’s difficult to tell who are the regular stupid people that I don’t particularly want to give my time to.

In one swipe by removing avatars, and introducing the anonymous function, they have removed a large part of the community feel.

I second the reduction in 'community' - of which Avatars will go a long way to fix.

When I originally joined in 2008/2009, with a different nom de plume, there were a variety of issues with the anonymous brigade.
Time and time again, the hierarchy of Aweb had to review and remove threads when the ill chose invective reached stupid levels.
I'd have thought that those days would have been remembered and, carefully avoided, by those editors who were around then.
What we have to consider here is, this site is now a work in progress and, it really has been a PR disaster, as regards a smooth changeover.
If any of us, in private practice had carried out our client relations in this manner, we'd have lost any respect, which we might have enjoyed.
Whilst I'm not surprised at the number of well respected contributors who've made representations, it seems that the designers and, those who should no better, are in denial, as regards the tragic loss of reputation.

I always thought an anonymous function was a masquerade ball

I thought it was where people go to talk about beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Is this linked to the way the website behaves like a bouncy castle?

And don't AWeb know that very often what works in the USA doesn't work or go down well here?

Or do they like many American companies work on the basis there are two ways od doing things - the American way and the wrong way.

Well so many members have raised so many problems. To add to all that: if you're reading one thread, at the end of it you need to 'load more' and scroll down further a whole new thread opens, and then another one and on!!!

Frankly, I think AWeb would be expecting members to get used to whatever is on offer. This design is a copy/paste from their dot.com site, and the in the process some cost savings may already have been achieved.

The way this site moves and bounces reminds one of bouncy castle!

This site remind me more of what a lorry driver has left at the bottom of a service station toilet.

Eventually, we'll get it back to what we had.

We used to have to give a new thread a title and a subtitle. It was the title that appeared in the list.

Now we have a title and a short title, the short title appearing in the list.

People are still thinking on the old system, leading to some totally unintelligible and inappropriate stuff in the thread index.

Totally agree Peter. Aweb have done wonders for my work productivity as I simply can't be bothered with Aweb most days now.
Oh the irony that there's practice excellence people judging our firms (well not mine as I'm not a member of the self back patter club) whilst their own business (website) is a complete shambles.
I'm sure that a lot of Aweb staff are working very hard and toeing the formal line, but honestly who on earth would have wanted this, other than advertisers.

I heartily agree, the new format is remote and austere. It used to feel personal with a feeling that we are all in it together. I do not post very often but I do read the posts eveyday and appreciate the time some regular posters put in.
