Didn't find your answer?

Is there any scope for a separate forum where questions can be posted and the posters don't get dumped on by the 'go ask your accountant' brigade?

There may well be. Perhaps you should ask your accountant.

Why?

I'm sure you think otherwise, but people are usually told to ask their accountant because they need to. Answering a question on a technical point for someone that basically knows what they are doing is one thing. Educating someone from scratch (which is what a lot of the people told to see an accountant need) is quite another.

Is there a forum where querists give all the information in the OP without us having to act as dentists to extract it in instalments?

Because I was party to a Sage group discussion before the changeover which just needed a simple answer which I was happy to give but the OP mentioned they wanted to get it right before submitting it to their accountant and at least two people waded in with the old line when it wasn't necessary. It's an issue for Sift Media really, depends on who they are aiming the site at and what sort of community they want to foster. Anyway, I see the Any Answers can now be viewed by category which helps.

Sometimes a question can be answered quickly but most times they can't - either because they need a long question and answer session with an accountant or a lot more information is needed. I don't mind answering a question if it is possible to be answered but if you even attempt to answer a question which isn't to the questioners satisfaction they respond with abuse or sarcasm. A couple of examples recently: one person simply listed a job description and asked what everything meant and another person wanted to be a self employed bookkeeper but the questions they asked give some people reason to believe there were a lot more gaps in their knowledge.
