Brightpay and formatting of date in csv file for Peoples Pension

Brightpay and formatting of date in csv file

Didn't find your answer?

I autoenrolled to 2 companies to the Peoples Pension last week. This is the first time I've used Brightpay and PP together. PP wouldn't accept the downloaded csv file as it stated there was a date format issue. Visually there wasn't, but the only way I could get PP to accept the file was to reformat that date.
Brightpay have told me to check my computer's settings to ensure they are English (UK) (funnily enough of course they are). I have checked my Excel settings to ensure they are English (UK).
Have others had this problem? What is it that I need to do to save myself the aggro of reformatting all PP csv files in future?

have you tried checking the csv file in a text editor to see what the data is that you are sending or are you using excel to open the csv file?

Excel has the annoying habit of reformatting dates when it opens a csv file dependent upon your locale.

Thank you Alan - I should not need to open the csv file in Excel, as BP shows details before the csv file is saved. Your reply prompted me to think that I probably did open up the csv files before uploading them, and you have reminded me that the dates were probably reformatted at that stage without me doing that.
I have looked again at PP and the format I will need to match the Brightpay format is about 5 down in their dropbox. Not ideal, but I think that is the answer.

Hi Moonbeam - Opening a csv file does change date format alright. Once you create the PP csv file in BrightPay, simply save straightway. There's no need to open it. If you have any issues will you send me a message and I'll get our support team to contact PP to get the issue sorted for you.
