Business milage policy difference

Different policies are in place for Directors and Other Employees

Didn't find your answer?

The mileage claim is offered at different rates for directors and the rest of the employees in the company. The Directors are offered a higher rate and the other employees are offered a lower rate. I understand employees can make a claim at the end of the year with HMRC directly if they get paid less than the AMAP. However, I feel this is very unfair!

HMRC Form P87 may be relevant for the claim.

Sometimes, just sometimes, s**t happens. If you're young, get used to it, you've a lifetime of "unfairety". If you're older then, the ultimate "unfairety" isn't too far away.

I was aware of this scheme for a payroll I used to run. The client was adamant that the Directors were expected to run a 'better' car in order to meet client expectations. The additional rate was to cover this cost.

It all balances out. At the end of the year you can reclaim what you are owed.

I don't understand why a business doesn't just follow the AFR and keeps things simpler!
