Carer- on employment

Carer- on employment

Didn't find your answer?

A prospective client is a carer but works under a PAYE contract. She spends a lot of time travelling from house to house visiting patients and elderly. She buys her uniform, cleans them and telephone/mobile costs are quite high as well. She is not reimbursed for the costs she incurs and she has also informed that as per her contract of employment, she will not be reimbursed for any costs she incurs.

Assuming that her contract mentions no permanent place of work, can we treat each separate patient's house as temporary workplace and claim all the travelling expenses? The cost of uniform, cleaning and mobile phone bills as use of home should also be allowable deductions against her salary income?

Any comments  would be appreciated.
