The IR are challenging the allowability of a carry across loss claim on the grounds that we cannot prove the 10 hour rule by way of time sheets, diary etc. We have provided significant detail as to the work carried out which the IR won't accept. The IR manual is silent as to proof. Hindsight is a wonderful thing & yes if it had dawned on anyone, time records would have been kept. Has anyone had experience of such a challenge from the IR & if so, can you offer anything to be used in our defence??
