CGT attachments to SA tax return

CGT attachments to SA tax return

Didn't find your answer?

Has anyone had a problem trying to attach a pdf file for the Capital Gains Tax calculation on the Self Assessment Tax return? I keep getting an error telling me my file name is too long or has invalid characters, neither of which are true. Phone HMRC online helpline and they couldn't help me, I now waiting for their technical team to get back to me. If anyone else has encountered this problem, did you manage to resolve it & if so how?

Many thanks

Have you tried to recreate the PDF

and attach the new version? Sometimes works.

Possibly you have a long directory path and one of the invalid charachers is lurking there.

Have you checked the following (I presume so) - Acceptable characters version 1.0 (PDF 16K)

Thanks but.. I tried attaching new file, shortened my directory path to the F drive so it was F:/filename and the file name only has letters, even renamed file & took spaces out on advice of HMRC but still didn't work
