Changing client's address

Changing a client's HMRC address, online

Didn't find your answer?

I've taken on a new client who was using their old accountant's address as their registered address. My client wants to change this to my address, but I don't think I can do this for them before I've registered as their agent online.

And I can't register as their agent online as this will send an activation code to their old accountant, which I'd prefer not to do.

I prefer to use the online agent authorisation with clients; is there a way that I can get the online agent authorisation without needing to send authorisation codes through to their old accountant? Can I change their address beforehand?

Any advice welcome!

Registered address changed at Companies House nothing to do with HMRC!

Apologies. To clarify, HMRC also have the previous accountant's address on their file, meaning all authorisation codes requested online would be sent to the previous accountant.

Have client call HMRC and change it.

As paulgrca.net has already said the company's RO has to be changed at Companies House. Calling HMRC will have no effect. You change it at Companies House first & they inform HMRC of change of RO.

To the OP.
Get the Companies House Authentication Code from the previous accountants & use this to change the RO at CH. Once that's done then go for online CT registration.

Why not submit a 64-8 on paper ?

Just this once ?

Sway with the breeze.
