CIS Subcontractor & VAT....

Hi

I have a LTD company CIS client that is registered for VAT.They are mainly involved in joinery and external wall insulation of new housing estates.

Therefore, do they have to charge VAT, i.e. should the contractor statement show VAT at the zero rate as the work involves the construction of new houses.

I am confused - any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Zero rated Construction work

The works in the course of construction of new houses are zero rated for VAT. I would ask the main contractor to provide written confirmation that the works do qualify for zero rating.
