Class 4 deferment

Class 4 deferment

Didn't find your answer?

Is it correct that class 4 deferment has now been abolished?  So an individual with employment income of £100k, and self-employment income of £50k, will be paying 9% on much of their self-employment income for 2015/16?

Many thanks

Yes to the first question. No to the second question.

sort of, you no longer need to apply in advance as this will be dealt with through the self-assessment tax return.

Has anyone done this in practice? I can't seem to find any guidance, and HMRC are unable to help. We use commercial software for the returns, and there does not seem to be anywhere to adjust for it.

Why would you need to adjust, surely the tax return software works out the position correctly once all employments/self employments included.
