Class 4 NI

Class 4 NI

Didn't find your answer?

Why is the NIable gross figure in the cumulatives on the March payslip significantly different from the National Insurance earnings figures on the P60? Which figure would you use for box 102 adjustment to profits chargeable to Class 4 NICs on the self employment pages of the self assessment tax return?

Without seeing both payslip and P60 we can't begin to explain a difference but you should always use P60 figures

each payslip shows a cumulative NIable gross figure, which is equal to the gross pay. The NI deducted doesn't seem enough for the the gross pay - total for year is gross pay £76414, NIable gross £76414, NI paid £4799, NI earnings per P60 (in total) £42384

I take it you have added the 3 or 4 boxes on the P60 together to check the total NICable earnings against the payslips single figure?

Use the figure from the client account at HMRC SA for "Total Class 1 NICable earnings between the PT and UEL" which should be Box 1(c) on the P60

Is that what you mean? For those where I need to adjust Class 4 for Class 1 the HMRC SA Client records seem to be up to date for the relevant income figure now as captured by RTI presumably

There are some things that are chargeable to NI but not tax. On the information provided, who knows ? But maybe have a look at the deductions the taxpayer has suffered from his pay.

NIable ? Sorry, I draw the line there. It's not a word.
