Excel Key Strokes message slowing down my typing

Excel Key Strokes message slowing down my typing

Didn't find your answer?

While I was working in excel, I had received a pop up message. I cannot remember it exactly, but it had words like “Key Strokes could slow down”. I cannot remember if I clicked the Yes, or No button, but since then I cannot enter, or type any word in Excel, or word without waiting for few minutes. If I make an error and hit back the back space, it takes me ages to retype. Forget about formual in excel-It is a nightmare. This drives me nuts. I am sure I must have changed some of my Micro soft settings somewhere in my PC, but unable to locate it. I have never come across this problem before.
Could you please help?

Sounds like filter keys is enabled

Go into control panel and then Accessibility options and untick anything that is ticked.  Sometimes pressing certain keys multiple times or for long periods can turn on or off sticky keys etc.

FilterKeys?

I am not completely convinced this is the problem but you may have switched FilterKeys on. Hold down the right hand shift key for 8 seconds and the option to switch this on or off should appear. Make sure it is switched off.
