Excel spreadsheet, formula help please

I would like to create an excel spreadsheet where I have the following 3 variables - loan amount, loan term(months) and interest rate. I want the spreadsheet to tell me what the monthly payment will be and the split between capital & interest. Does anyone know is this is possible ?

Try some of the formulae

listed under Financial

For example:

=PMT()

=IPMT()

=PPMT()

Hi Ned, what version of Excel are you using?

I know in 2010, if you right click on a tab, choose insert, then spreadsheet solutions, there is a loan amortisation template ready for use.

It may be in the 2007 version aswell.
