Has anyone had any problems with "Find a payment" on CT online? I've been trying for two days and am getting the "System unavailable" error.

I did contact the CT helpline earlier this week (tip : if you always press the 'anything else' option at the end of each menu, you will eventually get through to a person) and was trying to find out more about why I had not received a printed Acknowledgement of submission of a CT600 and a payslip for the last two submissions. The operator told me that they were trying to reduce paper sent out and that Companies should use their digital accounts to check amounts due and make payment online.

I did complain that as an Agent I should be able to deal with this for my client but HMRC refuse to give me access this vital information and the operator got a little flustered and had no real answer. I guessed that he has had to deal with this sort of question before.

I said that many of my clients do not have and do not want a digital tax account and would prefer me to deal with all of this for them. In addition, many also like to have the paper acknowledgement and payslip with which to make payment.

I added that if HMRC did not receive the tax payment on time then it would not be my responsibility!

You may be experiencing the push by HMRC to remove information from Agents and force people and businesses to use digital accounts themselves. Alternatively it could be just a malfunction, something that perhaps we will need to get used to.
