Flat Rate Scheme Percentage for Indoor Soft Play

Flat Rate Scheme Percentage for Indoor Soft Play

Didn't find your answer?

My client may need to register for vat in the next few months and they operate an Indoor Soft Play Centre for children, I can't work out which Flat Rate Percentage would be appropriate, and need to know to work out if it is beneficial to use the FRS or not.  Can anyone help?

12%?

I would assume it is going to be the 'any other activity' 12%, I can't see anything that is related to the activity you describe.

As to whether or not it is beneficial for your client, that will depend on the numbers and whether they want a simpler method of reporting/recording their VAT.

I am clearly feeling the time of day and managed to miss that heading when I skimmed down the list...  So another vote for 8.5%.

I would agree with Cheeky Chappy

I don't think anyone could argue against it being sport and recreation, happily that means a much better deal for your client!

Hi

We are a small scale soft play centre currently paying 12.5% (catering) flat rate. I've appealed this as believe 8.5% (sport and recreation) is more appropriate. I wondered if this rate was accepted by HMRC? We have a cafe but the play equipment takes up 75% of our space and we also run weekly classes for children - singing, arts and crafts, yoga etc. We are an out of town business and no way the cafe would exist or survive except as an add on to the play frame. We appealed a week ago - how long do you think it will take for a decision?

Many thanks in advance
