Food allowance

Food allowance

Didn't find your answer?

Got a client who has employees who work away Monday to Friday, the company provides them with a company credit card which they purchase there evening meals and hotels etc on.

I know they can claim for the hotel bills but can the employer get tax relief on the evening meals?

Temporary workplace

Assuming that the employees do not breach the temporary workplace rules (mainly, not expecting to work in the same area for more than 24 months), their travel expenses, including accommodation and subsistence, are allowable.  So, yes - and not just their evening meals, but breakfast and lunch as well.  The oracle is Booklet 490.
