Group Accounting - Book recommendations?

Non Routine transactions

Didn't find your answer?

Can anyone recommend a good book that deals with the complexities of group accounting in terms of re-organisations, intergroup asset transfers, disposals, liquidating group companies, predecessor accounting, removing intermediatory companies and the resulting tax implications ?

I'm struggling to find any books that specifically deal with these topics in enough detail yet I've come across many unwieldy group structures past thus suggesting there is a need.

Not sure if you will find something in one book addressing both the accountancy aspects and the tax aspects, my gut feel, and no expert re either, is that two books may be required.

In more recent years I have found the most useful accountancy book I use has been my Ernst & Young UK GAAP, certainly most referred to, (they do an international accounting one as well) which sort of reminds me that I probably am in need of a more up to date copy and your question has accordingly prompted a quick search on Amazon that brought up this:

UK GAAP 2017: Generally Accepted Accounting Practice Under UK and Irish GAAP Paperback – 17 Feb 2017

What I liked about the earlier ones was you got the theory (The Why) the actual application (The How) and some pretty good examples re the application; in addition given its size it is a tremendous book to use as a bookend on an open shelf.

Re the tax side, LexisNexis seem to have a book on group tax planning, no idea if any good or if it covers what you are after and at the price unlikely I will be buying just out of interest:
