Has Companies House Changed when I have been away

Cannot now access Co House to form a new company.

Didn't find your answer?

I was away on holiday last week but still managed to set up a company for someone and did the 4 the week before using Co House website service. Now I cannot get in to do any more. Its asking for logins which for some reason no longer work, and I cannot get in.

The screens just keep sending me around in cirlces has it changed when I have been away as one screen was asking me to set up a new Gateway login for Co House.

I have had problems with the "try our new service to register a company" like you going round in circles.
The trick appears to be to say "No thanks" to the new service then the log in etc. works.
Having said yes to the new service I had to clear the browser history & cookies to see the page that gave the choice between the old and new services.

I cannot get it to replicate it to ask "do you want to try the new service" so i can refuse it.

Its good the .gov.uk ;ads are not planning to introduce a massive new filing regime with this shoddy software.

I've had issues filing accounts to CH today so maybe they are having server issues

As the general election has been called the website might have gone into purdah.

Is that next to jeopardy.

Why don't you just use a formation agency? Some of them are just as cheap as CH and the logins are less hassle.

Really? How do they make their money then?

Don't CH charge you £12 for their online service?

Yes, but I assumed a formations agent would have to add that on to their fee. I assumed it was a statutory fee.

It is a formation agent would have to charge you the £12 plus there costs.

Co House is fine when it works.

Well they probably do charge slightly more but the point is it's easier to use an agent rather than mess about with CH if their login doesn't work properly. If you're getting £100 or so for setting up the company, it's easily affordable.

Formed one today using agents. Total cost £14.79 including Co House fee, agent's fee & VAT.

Went through with no issues whatsoever. Was worth the extra £2.79 for us!

Normally Co house is sufficient for my contractors etc and normally quick and easy to do.

I only tend to use an agent if client is wanting something a bit extra than standard articles.

I do notice some agents offer to get a bank account set up which will become increasingly useful as a lot of local banks are closing some times I have clients waiting 4 weeks plus for accounts opened with the main banks.

Any idea how they manage to do that? All the banks I have contacted need a director to go into a branch. Do the agents say they can get the account set up without a director having to go into a branch?

I think I will try one and see how they do it.

They are quoting £75 cash back with Barclays Bank within 7 days. I wonder if they just forward all the details to the bank who have guarenteed they will get the client in within 7 days to check his ID, as opposed to 4 weeks+ i am experiencing

They'll soon get their £75 back in bank charges following the inertia principle.

Did it for one of my clients (Barclays) He still had to go in branch and theres no time saving, its simply an introduction service, where Barclays then contact the Ltd Co. The formation agent gets an introductory fee and they pass (most?) of that back to the person setting up the Ltd Co.

You'd have thought we would be better off doing that ourselves to create a good relationship with the bank manager.
