Moneysoft Payroll Manager will not let me file PAYE returns. The message I get is "Connection to the Government Gateway is being blocked by some other software (e.g. a firewall)."

I am using XP which is not really supported although it has been working until now. Or is it HMRC?

Using PM today and RTI is going through no problems (Windows 10) My last update was 27 June but I note a new PM update is available from 26th July. Did a recent update cause the issue?

We used to have XP workstations, but upgraded to Win 7 (actually Win 10, downgraded to Win 7) a year ago when Moneysoft said that as XP was no longer being supported by Microsoft, there was a possibility that if HMRC changed its RTI handshake codes, XP might not be able to adapt. I recall that we actually filed an RTI return on an old XP machine about 4 months ago and it went through fine, but perhaps the change has happened since then.

However, I also recall getting a similar message only a month ago on my Win 7 machine. I just tried filing again and it went through fine.

I suspect that the problem is more likely to be at the HMRC end.
