Is it me?

Is it me?

Just read that the Labour party has concluded that you need to put away 15% of your lifetime earnings to get a decent pension.  Fine and dandy, but it took a two year survey to reach this conclusion! Thought they could have calculated this in an afternoon, after a late lunch and still been home in time to see Pointless.

Unless you're an MP or Senior Civil Servant

All the state old age pension is paid by taxpayers isn't it? I'm grafting now to support the current lot (who have also had free universities, healthcare, policies designed to inflate house prices) all to keep them voting the right way...

And then they come here to find out how to dodge IHT too

in the late 80's we had a pensions system that limited the percentage you were allowed to put away. One of the main numbers used was 15% another 17.5%. It hadn't changed that much for years. Now after 20years of tinkering, 'simplification' (haha) and tax grabs we have politicians saying hmmmmm 15%, that sounds like a good idea.

I have to try and keep up with the his pensions guff - you think tax is bad! - and not sure if it's getting harder because I'm getting older, or it is just getting harder but it is getting harder. After 20 years of thousands of people messing about you'd think they could just say 'finished' and move on. The devil makes work for idle hands to do (Morrisey 1980's)
