iXBRL error message

I have received a couple of error message relating to the actual dates of signing the audit report, balance sheet etc. Using SAPA standalone tagging software and Alphatax.

The error states 'cannot find a prefix in the ixbrl file for the tagname'.

Can anyone shed any light on how to rectify this error? Our client is due a significant tax refund and are obviously keen for the CT600 to be filed as soon as possible.

full error message

Hi

From memory there is an issue with transform of some date formats into iXBRL, if the date is in capitals such as 12 DECEMBER 2010 or in the format 12th December 2010

(with the th/nd/rd in it) it cannot convert the dates to the iXBRL date format 2010-12-12.

This may not be the full issue, however if you have the full error message we can investigate further?

If you do not want to post it online you could email it to me.

We are in the process of setting up an iXBRL help resource at www.ixbrl-inform.co.uk

which has an 'ask hypercube' section for help on tagging and submission issues, as we understand that it is sometimes difficult to get to the bottom of an error message if you have 2 separate suppliers for accounts and tax.

Thanks

Full XBRL Message

Hi Stewart

Thanks for your input. The full error states 'Cannot find a prefix in the selected iXBRL accounts file for the tagname 'DateApprovalAccounts' and another  'Cannot find a prefix in the selected iXBRL accounts file for the tagname 'NameDirectorSigningAccounts''. The date is tagged in the format 19 May 11 - should it be 19/05/11? The name is entered as X space X (ie two initials) space Surname. A third similar error has been generated for the Name of the director signing the Directors Report which is tagged X space Surname. Any further input you could provide would be most appreciated as I there have now been a few attempts at filing now.

Thanks

Talk to Alphatax

I have seen this error before and it relates to an issue where the Sage tagging software tags the dates in a way that the Alphatax validation does not understand.

The error you are getting is as a result of Alphatax validation checks and not from the iXBRL itself

If I remember correctly, you can ignore the error and go ahead and file it - but if you talk to Alphatax they will be able to help as they are aware of the problem.

Will talk to Alphatax

Hi Chris

Thanks for your assistance. I have already tried filing on a couple of occassions but it is being rejected. I will contact Alphatax though and try to establish what format they require the dates in. I think it might be 19/05/11 rather than 19 May 11 as I have other dates tagged which are in the first format rather than the latter.

date and directors

Sharon For the errors regarding the Director signing accounts and reports, this could be due to the fact that you have not specified which director from the dimensions is signing the report or the accounts. To ensure that this is correct 1. tag the Directors name on the Information page/Directors serving in the year with the tag 'NameEntityOfficer', and apply the Dimension of 'Entity officer' which gives you a list to choose from, for which Director it is (e.g Director1) 2. Where the name appears again on the Directors report where they are signing, tag this with 'NameDirector Signing Report' and again apply the same dimension to tell the tag it is Director 1. The 'NameDirector Signing Report' tag is only interested in the dimensional information so it can tie it back to the named information tagged on the information page. So the actual format of how the directors name is written in the signing section will not matter.

The date format you used 19 May 11 should be no problem as the system adds a transform of ixt:datelonguk when it generates the iXBRL. This is standard so Alphatax should be able to pick this up (however it may be worth checking with them if you still have issues).

Thanks

Hi Stewart

Thanks for your further input. I had already completed the dimensions and have double checked that I ahve correctly tagged the name of entity officer and set the dimensions to Director 1 and that the name of director signing the accounts has also be tagged and the dimension set as Director 1. Do you have any further possibilities I could check as you do appear to have a detailed knowledge and I am very much an IBRL novice!

I am checking with Alphatax regarding the dates issue.

Thanks for your input and assistance. You were correct that the date error was a bit of a red herring caused by a minus sign in one of the tags. The minus has been removed and the file has been successfully submitted.
