IXBRL tagging tool for Excel

IXBRL tagging tool for Excel

Didn't find your answer?

We use Digita for accounts and CT and it takes care of IXBRL filing. But we have a few very small companies whose accounts are produced on Excel 2010 and we would like to produce IXBRL accounts directly to save the time and effort of setting them up in Digita. Can anyone recommend a cost-effective tagging solution?

Talk to Digita

They have an application which can import Excel files and allow them to be manually tagged to create iXBRL

VT

As I understand it, if you are to use  VT, you have to first produce/genetate a set of final accounts using the VT template/work book, followed by conversion into ixbrl formatted accounts.

Ie you can not convert/tagg  your self generated excel ( non vt work book) accounts into an ixbrl set of accounts.

VT can generate an iXBRL accounts or tax comp file from any Excel workbook, not just from the pre-tagged templates included in the package.

Iris has a programme that will tag word and excel documents automatically. It looks for phrases such as turnover and will tag corresponding numbers without the need for manual tagging. All you have to do is check the tagging is accurate and do any manual tags that the software can't identify.

I haven't used it as we use SAPA for tagging, but seen a demo and very impressed.

best tagging

Without doubt VT accounts is the easiest and quickest to tag up an excel set of accounts. We tag all our accounts - it takes about 15minutes and once tagged can be used for subsequent years. It is also good for tagging the corporation tax computation and very quick.  VT could help by putting a tutorial on youtube as it takes a little getting used to.
