A month ago a new client asked my recommendation for accounting software. As he is fairly small I took him throught VT transactions and left him happy that it satisfied his needs
I popped in today to check progress to find him wrestling with B****y Sage, which was suggested by " a mate down the pub"
I've already told him that I will charge for teaching him Sage and for putting right the existing cock-ups he has already made but am tempted to disengage

I had one like this last tax year.
When I told him I would not use Sage (I have my reasons the same as everyone else!) he moved to another practice.
This saved me the bother of having to 'bin' him.
However, I did keep on friendly terms with him - you never know!
Sage is a name everyone knows but it's totally unsuited to the small business.
Overpriced and far more than they need.
Having said that, we're all going to have to review our options in a few months' time.
totally disagree with you I'm afraid, we are now using Sage One for most clients, easy to use, very well priced. Are you thinking of "old" Sage by any chance?
Could be - but I refer you to the reference to "b***y Sage" in the OP.
Either way - no point in changing horses wholesale for the next month or so. Lets see what's on the market later this year.
I have decided to move all my clients over to sage one this year to get ready for MTD it will just make things so much easier for me.
I suppose i am lucky i do all the bookkeeping for my clients and none of them have a turnover of less than £300,000 so they don't really care which software i use.
