First Brexit, then Trump, now MTD - a bit of a trend.

When my clients ask why their fees are increasing, I will point them in the direction of Whitehall....

In their present form none of the software is "MTD compatible" unless things change dramatically.

Not heard of half those listed on there, and there is a few I would have thought would be on are not.

Capium is missing from the list I see.

VT not on there either.

Surely anyone not MTD compliant will be out of business, won't they ?

It doesn't say for MTD.
It says record keeping, some of which are free, and some ( not necessarily the free ones) may meet cash basis and simplified expenses specifications

As expected it is the usual load of utter drivel from HMRC.

What method have they used for selecting the chosen ones.I quote the HMRC web site below:-

HMRC has not carried out any testing of the listed applications and do not carry out any form of security testing of developer products or services. Customers are encouraged to ask their suppliers for information about the security aspects of the products and services they provide.

Also at the beginning HMRC state

Please note that HMRC can’t recommend or endorse any one product or service over another and will not be responsible for any loss, damage, cost or expense in connection with using this software.

So what's the point of the list

I don't think this has anything to do with MTD. In fact, there is no mention of MTD at all.

This is just a list that is applicable to today and it seems quite possible that much of this software will not ever be MTD compatible.

The key point about MTD is that the software everyone uses must comply with the Government's prescription otherwise there is no point in using it. What we really need is a list of software that is or will be MTD compliant and I think it will be a long time before we see that based on the fact that software suppliers keep telling us that that they do not yet know what the compliance criteria is.

It really is a waste of time putting up a list of software like this at this time.
