Moneysoft payroll

We are looking at changing our payroll Software from Sage. Moneysoft seems to have been well recommended on here, but the last reviews are somewhat out of date. Is anyone here regularly using it and have any current feedback? We are looking at the Payroll Manager 100. If anyone has any reviews they could share, or suggestions of alternatives they would be most welcome. In particular, the reliability or the year end updates, and use for a significant number of companies.
Thanks,
Adam.

Moneysoft payroll
I have used moneysoft payroll for years. I have the multi company version and also buy it for my clients. I do not have any year end problems, I filed all my clients on line last year without a problem and the upgrades are quick and efficient. I also use moneysoft accounts packages as well as sage, iris and tas. They are cheap and cheerful and the support is included in the price. Personally I think some software companies are milking their products, but thats just my opinion

This might be a bit biased . . .
I started off with PAYE Master when it was run by Freeway, IRIS took over and things got pricier, they started charging you for everything (problem-solving, ordering stationery, renewing, etc) on 0870 lines - even although they were charging yearly support - and that REALLY bugged me. Then I had a massive problem at year-end 05-06 and they more or less said they couldn't fix my situation and I was left on my own to try and solve it.

I solved it by going to MoneySoft. Everything's been trouble-free since then, obviously took a couple of log-ins to get used to the new system, but after that it's been a breeze. Weekly, quarterly and year-end, everything's easier and quicker, and at a better price too.

IRIS had the cheek to make contact early in year 07-08 saying they knew they'd had problems but they'd like to welcome old customers back. In the words of Princess Anne - naff off!!

And another fan of Moneysoft payroll.
Absolutely fantastic product.

Has anyone noticed that there is not a single negative comment, except that it doesn't make your tea for you (I've actually found a button where it makes me a lovely gin & tonic, complete with slice of lime but am keeping that one secret).

How many other software products are out there that could claim that none of their users have a complaint about it.

NB - to the person who asked about their other products, personally I cannot get on with the accounts products, but have read comments from others who seem to like them.

This might be a bit biased - not
David parks' comments / scenario is the exact same as mine - except the 2005.06 mess - that seemed to pass me by.

Iris had become overpriced and clunky to use and despite being a Iris suite user and a Plus member at the time, no discounts were on offer and was told that was the price - take it or leave it!.... bye then... hello moneysoft.

To respond to an earlier post on networking - I did call Iris support on this point and was told it was not designed to run on a network. That was back in 2006 so maybe things have changed since then.

At the risk of being boring ....
Moneysoft payroll is the best value software around. Buy it!

Network
Barry

I do not know how MoneySoft does it, but IRIS PAYE-Master is also networkable. Like many other pieces of software, you have to install the program separately on each PC you want to use, but you hold the payroll data on the server to which all the PCs have access.

Moneysoft software
Moneysoft Payroll receives some glowing reviews and seems to be highly regarded by those who have used it.

Does the same apply to other Moneysoft products?

Market Share
Yes, i'm wondering how much market share has increased from 2% in the 2006 ICAEW survey, below.

Thanks!
Thanks for all your comments - looks like this is the way forward!

Network
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet (sooo many postings) but the software also runs over a network - thus making it available to any staff to work on/at their PC.

Initially, Iris not being networkable was the reason why I moved away from them. And now having used Moneysoft for the past 11 months, I whole heartily agree with the other postings. This software is easy to use and good value for your money.

Great Piece of Software
I would recommend the software as long as you have a limited amount of companies with a reasonable quantity of employees. For instances where you have to manage the payroll for a large number of 2/3 employee companies then QTAC may be a better option.
It looks so friendly that you feel you have to justify to yourself that it really is a solid industrial tool, it is an oddity in the software world and long may it succeed. The function list is excellent and the undo redo features make processing a pleasure.

Wonderful, value for money software
I have used it since starting on my own last April - I have found it to be very easy to use (I had never previously worried about how to process payroll) and as someone else has said the helpline is human!

For £100 or whatever it is the best value software I have ever purchased

Thanks (0)

...without doubt
.... the best software i have ever used for ANY purpose.

so afraid that SAGE/IRIS etc may take over and ruin/increase charges!!

Moneysoft payroll is great
Its fantastic. Very cheap but does everything & more than other softwares. It is similar to excel in its format and advantage/disadvantage is you can go back very easily to previous months /weeks and change them without too much hassle.
We haven't tried filing P35's online yet. However since we changed last April 07 it has been great.

Moneysoft
Another flaw is that it can not complete payroll from mind reading but I would wholly reommend it to you. I have had it for at least 3 years, if you have a problem you call and speak to George McHamish.

I believe his father started the company and now the son carries on the good work. I would be very interested to know what % of us professionals use Moneysoft in comparison to all the other offerings. I would expect that they have at least 50% of the market.

Year end is a dodle and P11d are included as is CIS. Try it and you will wonder why you did not use it before

Moneysoft
I went through three other payrolls before discovering Moneysoft, but am now in my sixth year with it.
I would like to add that on the few occasions on which I have contacted them for advice or to make suggestions, the response is human, immediate, and ungrudging.

there are many flaws with Moneysoft
but overall It's not a bad piece of software. The major problem I have with it is that it doesn't make you a cup of tea when you are thirsty.
Also I have noticed that it doesn't automatically email or upload the payroll info for my clients.

Thanks (0)

I agree..

I have used many different payroll packages and Moneysoft has been the best so far.

I was using PTP which was very cost effective and easy to use but did not have the ability to calculate student loan deductions and the P11D module had to be purchased separately.

Moneysoft does it all and is very price competitive.

I will be sticking with them from now on.

Moneysoft - there can be no other!!
I have been using moneysoft payroll 100 for 2 years now and it is quite simply superb! I have 30 payrolls on it - and will often replicate clients manual figures for checking - as it is so quick and easy!!

Thanks (0)

Simply the best!!!
I should be a salesman for Moneysoft, Ive used quite a few products for payroll but NONE come even close, I use the Payroll 100, its multi company, the print and post is particluary great, there's cash receipt sheets so the employees sign to say they have received the cash wage, BACS is as easy, the reports I have produced at a click of a button (hours worked, departmental analysis etc) have really impressed my clients (sorry Moneysoft I did take the credit), the holiday and time off diary again impresses with a bit of colour is not a boring schedule, again so easy to complete, the filing process is again a click of a button and Ive completed two years of 'year end procedures' and these were done by the 7th of April last year, so incredibly easy only hope my clients dont ever try it or im sure they will dispense with my services. I wont even mention the price, just compare it to other. Keep up the good work Moneysoft.

Another vote for MoneySoft
Yes I agree it is definately as good as it seems. HIGHLY recommended.

Thanks (0)

As good as they say!
Every time this question comes up, and it keeps coming up, Moneysoft is by far the most recommended. i have used it for about four years, for some 25 payrolls, and it is very efficient, and easy to use. I have filed the P35s online, and every P45 and P46 as well during the year. No more 'lost' forms.

You can copy analysis easily to an excel workbook to make accounting schedules.

The best bit for me is the one click 'print and post' button, whereby you can produce a summary and the payslips as a single PDF, which you can email to the client.

I'm sure you will be very happy with it!

No problems at all
I transferred all our payroll clients (~50) from Quickbooks to Moneysoft last year. I had intended to start from the beginning of the new tax year (April 07) and do the year end returns for 06/7 on Quickbooks, but I was so impressed by the speed of data entry in Moneysoft that I bit the bullet and re-entered all payrolls for the entire 06/7 onto Moneysoft and ran the year ends through that instead. I had the whole lot re-entered and year ends prepared within a day, whereas in the past it took me 2-3 days to do the same within Quickbooks. Virtually everything in Moneysoft is instant - you're not waiting even a few seconds for new screens or for processing - press the button and it happens immediately. The online filing is a breeze - just a click of a button. Now each month, I'd say it takes about 2 hours to do all the client payrolls, whereas I needed the best part of a day with Quickbooks. Considering I had previously changed from Sage to Quickbooks and was impressed with QB at that time, I can't see how anyone using Sage cannot fail to be impressed with Moneysoft. I've now had it just over a year - not a single glitch, never had to use even the online help let alone the customer support helpline - updates are all done automatically with no user input at all other than saying yes to start the update when prompted. I've been recommending it to clients who want to do their own, and every single one has been impressed and no-one has telephoned me for help, it's so easy to use.

11 months and counting
I started using it in April last year, after using Sage. It has been fantastic. No reliability problems. On line filing a breeze. Handles CIS fine. I even did 06-07 P11D's for several companies, even though the wages were in Sage, as it was easier than doing them by hand!

To illustrate how simple it is, if I have a new co with director as the only e'ee, it probably takes about 10 minutes from opening Moneysoft to having a schedule of the full year's wage details - even where there is tax and NI. Try doing that in Sage with the 'month ends'!

I have about 36 payroll schemes in the system, which it handles perfectly well.

The ONLY thing I can't say for sure is how it will handle the year ends, as I haven't gone throught he process myself yet, although I am not worried. I think I may create a dummy company to test.

Try it, I think you get a 30 day free trial.

Still fantastic
It's a no brainer as far as I am concerned!

Still Amazed

We have used Quickbooks built in payroll for years, then became extremely disenchanted with their ever increasing price hikes, forced monthly payments, terrible, glitchy latest release etc and so we started looking around for something else which didn't hold us over a barrel.  First we looked at Microsoft payroll manager - but I don't like the fact that all data is held online.  Next we tried Moneysoft payroll.

All I can say is that Moneysoft payroll is fantastic.  So user friendly, so easy to manipulate, rock solid, no glitches, regular updates which are a breeze to install (literally one click then restart the program) and there are so many features.

No need to buy expensive, pre-printed wage slips.  Several layouts for ALL printouts.  End of year/new year set up is easy and straightforward.  I simply can't praise this software enough.

On top of that, the price is right and the customer service is superb.  Your call will be answered, not by a call centre, but by the people who design the software!

I honestly hope that Moneysoft never change their wonderful format.  My only regret is not knowing about this excellent bit of software years ago.

Oh and before you ask - no, I don't work for them.

Good value for money

I am using Money soft for more than a year... so far no major problems and it is easy to use. atleast better than sage or Iris. I am not sure about their final accounts software, havent used it. but over all from my side I would rate this software 9 out of 10 ... good work!!

Payroll Manager

I have used Payroll Manager 100 for the past 11 years and find it very easy to use. This seemed to be one of the few systems at an affordable price which dealt with PAYE and CIS when I started using it and I have never had any reason to go looking for an alternative. Single or multiple payslips can be printed at any time, reports are good and a whole year's transaction can be checked at a glance for a single employee. Year end and P11D etc is a breeze. I mainly use Sage for all of my clients accounts but would never dream of changing the payroll over  - Very good value for money

Moneysoft payroll

Used Moneysoft payroll for a number of years and cannot fault it - the price and support are great.  It is so easy to email pdf's to clients for them to print themselves and then it saves them coming back to you for copies if things get misplaced.  We are now thinking of trying the accounts package next to see if it is as efficient.

Beware

Moneysoft is a wonderful payroll tool until you have a problem. We use Moneysoft for all four of our companies, and up until November 2014 it ran perfectly. We started to have a problem in November and every time an update is sent to us we cannot file with HMRC. Since November that makes it nine months Moneysoft has refused to help. HMRC has spent a total of 6 hours on the phone with us and made sure it was not the gateway. Moneysoft on the other hand  refuses to  listen, if you  call they interrupt, tell you it's not their problem, interrupt you some more, treat you like an utter moron, and interrupt you again. Don't make the mistake of thinking we just got someone on an off day this is nine months worth of call and emails, and countless people later.
