moving from flat rate to standard VAT

moving from flat rate to standard VAT

Didn't find your answer?

If you move from flat rate to Standard VAT can you:

1. Keep the same VAT reg number - I assume yes

2. Can you move mid VAT quarter? - VAT helpline seemed to imply this might not be accepted???? but am sure I have read somewhere that you can and you apportion the income/expenses over the period (it will be a beginning of the month move, not mid month)

Has anyone experience of this? the person I spoke to at the VAT helpline implied we need to write in but it might not be granted....am thinking he is talking out of something other than his mouth.....

Guidance anyone?

Horses mouth

Have a look at their notice on this.  You must write to them to say you are leaving and if you want to leave mid-quarter it has to be agreed.

You keep your number.
