although that does seem an odd way of putting it.
As far as I can see, there is nothing to prevent you from allowing this employee to make a salary sacrifice (provided that you offer the option to all other employees) of £243 a month. Assuming that she is aged 22 or over, her statutory minimum wage is £7.20 an hour or £499.20 a month, which means that she could sacrifice up to £294.50 a month without you breaking the law.
Could you give some explanation of any contrary opinion you have received?
