P35 online filing

P35 online filing

Didn't find your answer?

I am about to eat humble pie. I have an online filing receipt for a company P35 but have contrived to file it under the wrong reference number. I thought this was impossible to do & that the P35 should have been rejected online. Any thoughts anyone?

It is possible
If the reference you used is registered to your online credentials (username and password) as an agent then the submission will be accepted by the gateway because those credentials are registered to do so.

The gateway and HMRC back-end systems have no idea that that is not what you intended.

P35 online filing
Don't beat yourself up too much - I did the same thing a couple of years ago when a company went into receivership and then another company opened with the same employees a month or so later. I thought I would save time by using the same Sage payroll account but forgot to change the reference number.

The answer was I called HMRC and told them what I had done - they got in touch with the correct department (I forget which one) and they sorted it out. It took a few goes though as I was being chased for a P35 that had already been filed.
