PAYE Reference Trace

PAYE Reference Trace

Didn't find your answer?

Does anyone know if you can trace a PAYE reference for a business?

We've had a few reminders for P35's for clients, where the original references etc. were sent to the client and (you've guessed it) they've "misplaced" them. Most of these are nil returns, or returns to simply disclose a small directors salary.

Can they be traced online using the accounts office reference, as we have these from the P35 reminders.

Any advice is much appreciated.

If you have been appointed as the agent for PAYE

... you can look at the client online or download a client list, which will give you both the PAYE scheme reference and the AO reference.

If the client has not appointed you as their agent and they have lost their reference, is it really your problem?

No 64-8 in place for these so they're not on our client list, and can't get authorisation without the PAYE ref, so I'm going around the houses at the mo.

It isn't our problem really, but be assured that it will be once the client receives their £100 penalty through the post!
