Payroll Software recommendations

Didn't find your answer?

I prepare payroll for an employment agency that deals with temporary staff and pays by the hour. They have 200 staff on their books and have to pay probably 50 per week. I get the hours per employee on a spreadsheet so would like to import this directly in to an accounts package. Does anyone know of a package that would allow me to do this?

Moneysoft Payroll Manager

I am sure I will be the first of many to recommend Payroll Manager. I import weekly hours to Payroll Manager, and it works like a dream. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Used Iris before and would never go back.

You mention "accounts package" but the heading and subject of your post are payroll so I assume you are looking for payroll software. If you are looking to import to an accounts package (which would not calculate your payroll)  recommend VT Transaction+.

Check first

I'm not sure that Moneysoft does permit import from CSV files.  My understanding is that it doesn't and the facility doesn't seem to be mentioned on its website.

Look at 12Pay  www.12pay.co.uk which certainly does offer this feature and othet things that Moneysoft doesn't such as emailing payslips to employees

Thanks

I already use Moneysoft and think for the payrolls that I do do it is good but I cannot see how to import wages details in to it.

12 Pay looks good and I will run it alosngside moneysoft for 2011/12 as neither break the bank. I also like the e-mailing of payslips as this is happening more and more.

Excuse me, Cloudcounter

If Chatman says he imports CSV files into Moneysost every week, who are you to suggest that it is not possible?

It is undoubtedly available as an option on the Pay Details screen, although I have never used the facility myself.

Although Moneysoft has no automatic facility to e-mail payslips, it can print payslips to individual .PDF files, which you could use for a small volume of payslips.

[Edit]  @bduncan - the Import from CSV file is the extreme right icon on the Pay Details toolbar.  You can find guidance eventually under Guides on the top toolbar, Making payments, click on the top More button, then on More Info in section 1, then on Pay Details - Miscellaneous, Importing Pay Details.

Thanks Euan

I cannot see the "More" button when I click on make payments. I am currently only using Payroll Manager 100 do you know if this makes a difference.

Emailing Pay Slips

I regularly email payslips, an employer summary and P30. If you click on Print and Post, from the Pay drop-down menu you can select these and other reports to be printed to a single pdf file which can then be emailed if you want. Takes seconds. Works with all versions of Payroll Manager as far as I know.

The button to import weekly wages, which Euan mentioned is the right-hand-most icon on the Pay Details screen, looks a bit like a little spreadsheet with a green downward-pointing arrow at the top of it.

Thanks Chatman

I will play around to see what fields I need and how to attach them to the ones I need to import.

I have to e-mail about 40-50 payslips to individuals so I will have a look at 12pay to see if this extra function is worth the hassle of moving one or all clients from Monsysoft.

More buttons

We are using the 250 version, but I would be surprised if there are any differences in the Help and Guides areas.  It is probably just my poor directions.

A quicker route is press F1 (or click on Help, then General Help), select the Index tab and type in "import".  About the fifth line down in the list is "Importing Pay Details".  Double click on it.

@bduncan

Not sure why you think Moneysoft does not have the functionality you require. Reading the thread, it does seem to. Emailing pay slips to clients is easy and very quick, as mentioned.

It would be a shame to think you had been misled by the errors in cloudcounter's post.
