Payroll - What to charge

3 person basic payroll

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all

Looking for some guidance over what to charge for payroll. I'm a small practice and usually offer payroll as part of a monthly package but have been approached to provide payroll only for 3 people for a small limited company. Not sure what is usual to charge for this service. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Is processing frequency weekly/monthly/four weekly?

Is there a lot of variation re hours/staff bonus payments/overtime etc?

Is there frequent staff turnover (leavers/joiners)?

What is your role to be re AE, is it merely submission of payroll figures or is there more you will do?

Here is a thread on this subject that might be helpful https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/payroll-cost

I would suggest somewhere between £20 and £40 per month if the payroll is not particularly complicated.

You also need to take into account the cost of your payroll software. I use BrightPay which is very reasonably priced so it allows me to offer a bureau service at a competitive price.

Best of luck!

Agree totally with Alex-T. £35 sprang to my mind immediately. Also agree with Brightpay for payroll

Monthly for 2 is £60 a quarter Weekly for two is £90 a quarter plus VAT. As for 3 the extra time is minimal usually so how about £75 a quarter and £120 a quarter?

It should be fairly minimal for 3 employees for payroll and AE. I’d charge £30 for monthly to include both.
