My version of Quicken has died on me after 16 happy years. Can anyone suggest an alternative? I have used it for a combination of personal and business.

VT Cashbook
It's a free download, and has a template for household, as well as sole trader, partnership, ltd co, etc.
It's very user friendly, too.
Downloading bank statements
I love it VT and use it for many clients. The only shock to you will be that VT cashbook does not enable you to download bank statements as far as I am aware. If it does, someone please let me know!
For my personal finances though I use an old version of MS Money (I think it is the 2005 version, the last one released in the UK) as you can download bank statements directly from the bank and so do not have to input every item of expenditure manually.
Looking at this last night
it seems that MS Money Plus Sunset is still available as a free download.
Automatic updating online is not possible, but importing QIF files that most banks produce is.
I can't say what it is like as I only downloaded it for a look last night, but may be one to add to the list of possibles.
