Receiving credit card payments

Didn't find your answer?

I would like the ability to offer clients the ability to pay by credit card.

What efficient and cheap methods do practices use? I would envisage around £1,000 per month?

Shop around

I use Barclays Merchant Services.   Costs are:

£10 p/m + vat terminal rental

2.47% credit cards

60p debit cards

Been with them 20 years or so, did a shopping around exercise a few years back couldn't get anything more competative.

Clients paying over £600 on card (i.e. £500+vat) are surcharged 2%.

If I was starting over, I may not have a card acceptance facility, just drive clients to Paypal or NoChex - but would need to look at transaction costs v saving in rental.

An accountancy practice should be low risk for the card accepters, but they don't see it.
