Ryanair Pilots

Been approached by a "self employed" pilot who flys for Ryanair via an agency.

Does anybody act for similar?

Would he be caught by IR35 if he set up as a limited company?

Would he be better off if he voluntarily registered for Flat Rate VAT?

I suspect the answer to both questions is YES but would welcome thoughts from anybody who has similar clients or is aware of the answer to these questions.

it depends

Check out the new IR35 business entity test at http://www.accountingweb.co.uk/article/ir35-business-entity-tests-published/527241 - whilst i wouldn't rely entirely on this it will give you an idea based on the pilots circumstances.

As for flat rate - it also depends on the costs incurred by the Pilot - this will determine whther its better to go flat rate or not.
