I think I must just about be one of the longest standing customers (1994) of Digita but sadly it is time to say goodbye . I really dont need the bells and whistles of the acspro software as I have only a few Ltd companies to deal with . Also they have partnered with Xero whereas Taxfiler , which I have used for tax for 3 years and am now using for accounts, have partnered with QuickBooks online which to my mind is a much better idea as QBO will have many many more users in a very short space of time. Talking about longevity I have been using Q since version 2 which is also early 90's so have been a customer on Intuit's for as long as I was of Digita. I remain committed to QBO which is a magnificent piece of software. I haven't had a long service medal from either company despite years of promoting both which would have been nice but there it is , Happy Christmas to one and all

I have been with Digita since 2004.
Why don't you explain to Digita your predicament and see if they can come up with a special deal?
I went to the last Digita conference and after explaining to FT that Digita conference wasn't a selling situation Digita disappointed me by trying to sell Onvio non-stop. It got even more ridiculous because any time anybody asked a question about what it could do the answer was always something along the lines of "it doesn't do that yet but we are working on it". Given I am 64 I don't really want to be going through too much change if I will be retiring in 5-10 years.
That Conference left me furious. They made this grand announcement of Onvio at the start, with all the staff applauding enthusiastically, and gave the very real impression that this was a product launch.
Then, everytime they showed us anything to do with it, it was a 'roadmap' of 'where they aimed to be' and we were told how mean we were for criticising. The worse session was the one on the first day where Briony got completely mauled by the entire room whilst demonstrating Onvio accounts (glorified online cashbook that struggled to provide a basic TB as I recall), to the extent that the staff due to speak after her basically had no time to go through their bits. In honesty I think her colleagues were quite relieved not to have their full time allocation, having seen the treatment she received.
I felt a bit sorry for her really, as delegate after delegate pointed out that the product she was demonstrating was [***] and nobody seemed to understand what they were looking at. Then again, we hadn't had to suffer DAPA at that stage so our expectations were still quite high.
The accounts software does seem to be going in the wrong direction at the moment........
Good for you
I have been using tax filer with Quickbooks and both are great and easy to use.
While Xero and Digita may just be as good but I think the Quickbooks/Tax Filer Combo will favour a lot of micro practices were price is a factor.
Must be something in the air. I too am moving from Digita. I am looking to scale up a lot and find the stepped pricing too much going up every 25 clients which is too rigid.
I was all hoping for full cloud which seems years off from Digita. My needs are fairly basic although I do rate Digita personal tax a lot. I really think the new accounts production was poor and the conversion process very long winded.
I am currently looking at Senta for practice management which looks to have a look more useful functions than the standard PM you get within a suite.
Must say i am disappointed to leave but felt it just wasn't the same any more.
I just want something cheap and that i won't have to upgrade every few months whilst i am still growing/looking to acquire fees but do the job.
I will revisit the practice stuff in 2/3 years time once MTD has been established and settled down.
If everyone is is using software to do accounts on though I cannot see how you need anything more than just Taxfiler bolted onto end of it.

I’m surprised to read your comment, Glennzy.
I got the impression that the reason you went with Digita was to facilitate growth. Has the pricing plans changed drastically since you signed up?
The integrated suite was good when I started but pricing structure is too rigid and you get punished for growth really.
I was looking to bring in another block of fees plus maybe 2 staff. Each staff member is an additional monthly fee, each block of 25 clients has a additional fee.
So the cost would of went up massively for using the same product but just with more clients
Capium has 3 band widths small medium or large and unlimited staff. Tax filer one fee unlimited clients. The products might not be as polished but they do the job at a fraction of the price and fully cloud as not a fan of hosted solutions.
Out of the practice suite currently Personal Tax is Excellent, PM is ok but Senta, XPM and Glide IMO are better.
AP+ looks terrible to use. Co Sec is very poor.
I wanted the document management but was told could have Onvio which was £700 which is too much when compared to others.
I am currently running with Capium and Senta at present for under £1000 per year.
I will look again in a 2 years time when market has settled down but I suspect a mix of products will be way to go.
The whole Onvio suite is supposed to be going to be great when it comes out but I will wait and see.
Not sure what is happening to Digita. We've used Digita for a number of years, but have been very disappointing that:
- Onvio doesn't work and is complete rubbish but we have been charged full price for it.
- CoSec hasn't worked properly since March and Digita are telling us to prepare and file directly through CH, but are charging us full price for the software.
- Advanced Accounts production introduction was shambolic and is still full of work arounds.
I think it's time to make a formal complaint
I was amazed how much time we saved when I dumped digita for VT for accounts prep. Only a couple of larger clients benefited from Digita's (superior but clunky) software for all the simple stuff VT spanked it.
I have never looked back.
@ Glennzy - you should have a look at BTC. The pricing is flat for up to 30 users and unlimited clients (I think) and they have just released cloud versions of PM and personal tax modules. Somehow these link to hosted versions of the other modules. I won't pretend to understand how.
After speaking to them just this morning they've told me they expect to release a full suite of fully integrated cloud module by the end of next year.
