I restored a client back up on a version of Sage Instant version 15, I posted loads of transactions and everything was fine until I closed the program. Now when i try to open it is says something like 'the data is from a later version you need to update, do you want to update'......if i say yes it says its all up to date and promply closes down, if i say no it closes down!!!
I know this client is using the same version as me, and how come this problem didn't arise when i tried to restore his data??
Help please!!!

The following was posted by Johndon in reply to a similar question on 22/05/12:
Go to the company folder which, assuming a default install on a Windows 7 PC would be c:\programdata\sage\accounts\2010\company.000 In that folder will be file called WATERMARK.XML - delete that file and you'll be able to get back in to Sage.

Doing this will let you open the program to check your version number
If this does not work then Right mouse button click on your desktop icon for the program and choose properties from the menu
Go to the version tab at the top of the box that comes up and make a note of your exact version ie. ALL the digits.
now go to www.sage.co.uk/accountsupdates and choose your software and version from the dropdowns
look down the left side of the list that comes up and find yours - to the right of that it will give you all updates that you can download for your version.
hopefully this will fix the problem.
Although you both may be on say V16 the client may be on a higher version if their last 3 digits are higher than yours. The auto updater will only update
I have no idea why you did not have a problem when you restored the backup, but I have known this to happen before.
