Sale of barn, part of garden and PPR

Sale of barn, part of garden and PPR

Didn't find your answer?

Dear All

I have been asked if a friend can sell a barn and surronding garden on their land (less than 0.5 hectare) and claim PPR relief.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

.

Does he live in the barn?

Assuming not what is the position of the barn as a whole.

What about the house (is there one?) is it being sold.

How long has he lived there (In the house)?

How is the barn used?

You need to provide much more info.

Main Residence

PPR relief is what it says - relief when you sell your principal private residence.

If the land on which this barn is situated does not form part of the "grounds" of the current residence, then no relief can be claimed. If it is within the grounds, then relief may be available, depending on the overall position, but there are a lot of things to consider.
