Tax Code for SA 100

Tax Code for SA 100

Didn't find your answer?

We are  claiming back employment expenses for a client for 2011 - 2012 using Inland Revenue SA online service.

Input the employment information, gross wage, tax deducted.

Input total expenses claimed.

Calculation shows tax OWING rather than overpaid.

Tax code on P60 is 1336 L

Software assumes that the client's personal allowance is £7475.

What is my best course of action please.

Any help much appreciated.

Check the PAYE coding notice

A 2011/12 PAYE code of 1336L indicates that the client has a net £5,890 of tax-deductible expenditure - perhaps, interest on a qualifying loan or higher rate tax relief on pension contributions.  When you have found out what type of expense is being allowed, enter the actual amount for 2011/12 on the online SA return.

Mileage Allowance in Tax Code

It turns out that the client has the tax code of 1336L because it includes a mileage allowance.

My problem is that when I deduct the amount per mile he receives from his employer (11p per mile) from the mileage I am claiming, he still has tax to pay.

Should I be doing something differently?

Any help much appreciated.
