Temporary employment

Temporary or permanent workplace

Didn't find your answer?

The person is self employed taking occasional employed work under PAYE.He has been teaching since Sept 15 on a PAYE basis. He works two days per week at one establishment for 100% of his time there. The other three days is self employment, though at the moment he is not taking self employment but doing paternal duties for a new addition to the family.

Would HMRC consider this temporary work as the contract finishes end of July 16 or permanent work. He would like to be able to claim his travel and subsistance espenses.

After looking at HMRC 490 and other postings I feel that HMRC would consider it permanent work and thus no travel expenses can be claimed.Allthough the whole matter looks a minefield

If they attend this workplace for the whole time they're employed then it can't be a temporary workplace regardless of how long they're there for.
