Termination payment from overseas employment

Termination payment

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who is UK resident and domicile and has an overseas employment in Canada. The overseas employment requires them to be in Canada a few months of the year to carry out the work. My client has received a severance pay from Canadian employment and I was wondering if anyone else has come across a similar situation? I know that the client will be taxable on worldwide earnings regardless of whether or not the income is remitted back to the UK, does this mean the severance payment will follow normal UK tax rules for termination payments? Any advice will be much appreciated.
