Universal Credit - self employment

Universal Credit - self employment

Didn't find your answer?

Universal Credit and self-employment (July 2013 edition) states self-employment "must be your main form of employment". Does this mean part time self-employment is ignored? This was not in the March 2013 edition of this publication.

not ignored

... if your self-employment is part time & you have no other employment then you will not be entitled to universal credit & you will be expected to look for other work. If you have full time PAYE employment and you are claiming universal credit you will also have to declare any income from part time self-employment.
