Update on tax repayment

Update on tax repayment

Didn't find your answer?

Put a repayment claim in on 6 April 2017 and the amount is still showing as 'Repayment pending'. However they are now showing, as well as that, that there is also a payment due. The repayment pending is £1,305 and payment due of £128 but they haven't made the repayment. What are they playing at?

It's going through the system.

Personally, I'm thankful that checks are conducted before paying in excess of £1000 to taxpayers. It is there to reduce fraudulent, or wholly inaccurate refunds.

A wait of a couple of weeks is far from unusual. I'm very surprised that someone acting as a tax agent does not know this.

The repayment is my own due to a large pension policy I cashed in. I have being doing conversion work to my house and have run out of funds so I am, quite naturally, panicking about the situation, even though I know they do these checks. Just cannot find a reason for them to say there is a repayment pending and also say I owe tax.

Many thanks mrme89 for your reply and others who replied to my previous. Still don't know why HMRC split my repayment as a repayment with a payment to be made by 31 January 2018. At least I now have got my repayment so I can now pay my electrician.

When did you start or stop self employment?
I think that the Class 2 liability is not payable till 31 January but that is a little short for a full year
