VAT on catering labour

VAT on catering labour

Didn't find your answer?

My client has taken on a kitchen assistant to work in his cafe. He has taken her on under a self employed basis - Something I am advising against but thats another issue! However this lady is VAT registered. She supplies labour only but she is not charging my client VAT. Not sure this is correct. I expected her to be adding VAT to her hourly rate.

There is a real problem here!

I agree with you. If the self-employed person is VAT registered, she should be charging VAT.

You will need to advise your Client of your concerns, and provide something in writing, should things go wrong!
