VAT on supply of goods and subsequent installation from UK to another EC state - brain dead Friday

VAT on supply of goods and services UK to EU

Didn't find your answer?

OK - I am brain dead on a Friday

I have a supplier who is UK VAT registered who carried out an installation of a product for us (UK VAT registered) in another EC state where we are also VAT registered. If it were simply a supply of goods I would expect zero rating. Does the installation (being a service?) aswell as the delivery change things? I can't decide and am hoping for a steer. The supplier has billed with UK VAT and I want to be sure they are correct: they are not sure either.

well that deoends on which country we are talking about as instasllation can be dealt with as a "local" reverse charge by the customer so long as they are VAT registered.

Shaun
We are UK based , UK & Republic of Ireland VAT Registered, Supplier is UK based, no ROI VAT registration and site is RoI.

I take it therefore that it is reverse charge, which was my initial thought but supplier was insistent it wasn't.

Thanks
