Vat question

Here's the Question

Engaged to provide services to a Non-UK Entity - No Vat on Invoice

I engage another company to do the work, however the work is done in the UK- They bill me, a UK entity, inclusive of VAT, is this right as the supply of services, although to me relates to non-UK supplies of services?

Any answers

Thanks

Sounds about right

Subject to special rules about particular types of service, the place of supply is where the recipient belongs. In the second relationship above, you are the recipient so UK VAT is chargeable.

AS BKD states place of supply is where recipient is eatablished - so in first instance customer outside of UK and no VAT charged. In second instance UK to UK business so UK VAT charged.
