Hi
, apologies in advance - I think this is a daft question. We are a GB vat registered company. We have purchased a service from a company in Ireland. Their invoice has a IE VAT number. Am I correct in thinking that I cannot reclaim any VAT from this invoice?
Many Thanks

The client needs to give survey monkey their UK VAT number, and then the Irish VAT shouldn't be added. I believe you will then start to see a note that the service falls under reverse charge.
You cannot recover Irish VAT, no.
But they should probably not have charged you VAT, under the place of supply rules
It is very easy, when setting up an electronic account with non UK supplier to overlook adding the UK VAT number. That's because the supplier doesn't really care about making it easy to do this.
So client needs to be educated to look for ways to enter his VAT number in future for these sites.
